ISSUE OF 5/- NOTES
PROPOSAL IN AUSTRALIA CANBERRA, August 22 The Federal Treasurer, Mr. It. G. Casey, stated to-day that he will place before the Cabinet a proposal for the issue of 5s notes. Mr. Casey said he had considered the inconvenience caused to the public by lack of a monetary token of a value between 2s and 10s, and he believed the issue of os notes would prevent the 'weighing down of pockets by loose silver.
