OBITUARY
MISS E. M. McINTOSH The death has occurred of Miss E. M. Mcintosh, formerly principal of the New Plymouth Girls' High School. M iss Mcintosh succeeded Miss J. R. Ban* as principal of the school in 1921. Four years later, ill-health forced her to apply for leave of absence, and a year afterward she resigned. As a graduate of Otago University Miss Mcintosh went, to New Plymouth with a line scholastic record. She applied herself to promoting the good of the school and became extremely popular with hundreds of girls who passed through her hands. Miss Mcintosh was known not only for her strict impartiality, but also for her ever-ready sympathy. MR. THOMAS RIDDLER [BY TF.LF.fi It A I'll —PR IC.BS ASSOCIATION*] WELLINGTON, Saturday The death has occurred of Mr. Thomas Riddler, one of the oldest residents born in the Hutt Valley, aged 87. In the early days Mr. Biddler was one of an escort of cavalry for the Duke of Edinburgh on a trip to Upper Hutt. He was a member of the Oddfellows (Hose of Valley) Lodge, being the oldest member. He married in 1873. His wife predeceased him. He is survived by an adult family of six sons and two daughters.
