TENDERS FOR DRAINAGE MUNICIPAL ABATTOIR PLAN [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Friday The question of the proximity of the sewage treatment works site at Pukekohe to the thickly-populated area was raised at the Borough Council meeting 011 Thursday by a petition signed by 21 ratepayers and four other residents and presented by Mr. T. Varley. Reports 011 the matter from the health authorities were also considered. The council decided to permit the calling of tenders for the installation of the sewerage scheme, with tho present site retained for the treatment works, it being agreed that should the extension of the town in later years make removal of the outfall desirable, the cost would not be great. Tho town clerk, Mr. S.. Bish, was given authority to place the drainage loan debentures for 15 years at 3J per cent interest, a sinking fund calculated to repay the loan in 35 years to be also provided by the council. The amount to be raised is £26,000 and approval of the 15-year term has to be obtained from the Treasury. Mr. F. Brown advocated the establishment of municipal at Pukokohe to serve the Franklin district. Other councillors agreed that they were required, and the Finance Committee was asked to go into details and report. Mr. G. T. Parvin was re-elected the council's representative on the board of managers ot the Pukekohe 1 ethnical High School.
