SALVATION ARMY

PROMOTION OF OFFICER The promotion is announced of Adjutant 1\ G. Norman, manager of the Salvation Army's inebriates' institutions at Pakatoa and Rota l\oa islands, to the rank of major, as from July -•*. Major Norman has had a varied career, having served in every branch of the Army's work. In 1931, when officer in charge of the Napier district, he organised extensive relief work during the earthquake period, and was ft member of the relief committee set up to administer this work. Later ho was appointed accountant in Army's finance department at Wellington. Other appointments have included the charge of the hangarei, Foilding, Wanganui, and Masterton districts.
