OFFENCES BY BOYS
THEFT AND SHOPLIFTING CASES IN WANGANUI [BY TEI/EGRA.FH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WANGANUI, Saturday A number of charges against five boys who operated as a gang and singly were heard in the Children's Court this morning. The alleged offences included breaking, entering and theft, the conversion of cars, the theft of bicycles and 'shoplifting. One boy who had previously been before the Court was committed to the care of the superintendent of the Child Welfare Department, Wellington, and the remainder were placed under the care of the local welfare officer for various periods. Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., remarked that there was far too much of this sort of thing in Wanganui, and he did not know why they should have boys in Wanganui, more than in other places, committing these crimes.
