ORDERS TO RETURN SEVERAL PETITIONS GRANTED Several petitions for restitution of conjugal rights were heard by Mr. Justice Fair and Mr. Justice Callan in the Supreme Court yesterday. "They have arranged this as a short cut to a divorce," said Air. Justice Callan, after hearing the evidence ol Willi ain Chaplin (Mr. Field), who sought an order for the restitution ot conjugal rights against Phoebe Alyrtlo Chaplin. "I am not satisfied," His Honor continued. "This man has no genuine desire to havjg his wile back. Petition dismissed." Evidence that he and his wife had quarrelled over another man to whom he had found her writing a letter was given bv A Idled Valdor Hooper (Dr. McElroy). He sought restitution of conjugal rights with Freda Leonie Hooper (Mr. Field), to whom he was married in May, 1925. Mr. Field was given leave to withdraw the wife's answer. Petitioner said the quarrel occurred last December. His wife said that now that he had found iier out she would leave, and she did so that day. She came back a fortnight later, but would not come inside the gate. He and others had made persistent efforts to get her to return, hut she refused. There were two children of the marriage. An order was made for respondent to return to petitioner within 14 days.

Orders for the respondent to return to petitioner within 14 days were made in the following cases: —David Chapman (Air. Newber.y) against Jannet Waddell Chapman; Lillian Grace StevensRichards (Air. Alillikeii) against John Henrv Stcens-Richards; William Alan Leonard (Air. Leary) against Alargarct Leonard (Air. Jenkins); Violet Bernice Wood (Mr. Thwaitos) against George Edward Wood.

The period for return was fixed at 21 days in the case of John Charles Kendall (Air. fnder) against Ethel Kendall.
