VICTORIAN STATE ROADS COMPREHENSIVE PROPOSALS Many loc.il bodies .and tree planters' associations in Victoria have been busy laying out tree plantations along tho State's main roads. The Stato Government has endorsed the movement and plans are being made on a scale which promises that within a few years the State roads will be tree-lined avenues. The Premier, Mr.' Dunstan, announced that the Ministry was willing to grant assistance to municipal councils, subject to certain conditions. Arrangements were being made to plant about 10,000 trees in tho current season. Mr. Dunstan's statement followed a conference which he convened recently to discuss the denudation of highways and methods to be adopted to preserve native growth.
