EROSION BY SEA

THAMES COAST ROAD COUNTY COUNCIL'S CONCERN [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] THAMES. Thursday Erosion by the sea on the coast road had assumed alarming proportions, stated the supervisor, Mr. J. H Adams, at tonlay's meeting of the Thames County Council, when he asked the council to pay a visit of inspection to the road. He said breaches in the sea wall were continuing. The chairman, Mr. H. Lowe, stressed the necessity of making the road safo. There were places uhcre holes made it dangerous for traffic unless care was taken. Mr. W. Price, the riding member, urged an immediate inspection so that the council could take steps to protect the highway. Only recently another breach in the sea wall had been made at Woods' Bay. The council, after discussion, decided to ask Public Works engineers to visit the road, members of the council to accompany them. The supervisor, in his monthly report, stated that repairs were urgently needed to Ohetai Bridge, on the Hiku-taia-Kopu main highway. Tho bridge really required renewing in concrete, the estimated cost being £6OO. The Warahoo Bridge, on the same road, also required repairs. Tho repaiis were authorised by the council. The council decided to make further urgent representations to the Government regarding tho Kauaeranga-Tairua road.
