COAL DEARER

INCREASE IN AUCKLAND ADVANCE OF 6D A SACK The price of coal delivered to the householder was advanced in Auckland yesterday 6s a ton, equivalent to 6d a sack. This applies to the product of the Waikato, bv far the largest supplier to the Auckland market. South Island coals are unchanged in price. The increase has been necessary owing to the recent agreement embodying higher wages for miners. The collieries have made an increase of 3s a ton, which has been passed on to the purchaser, with an extra 3s for handling and transport costs. No alteration has been made in the price of carbonettes and briquettes.
