AFTERNOON AT KUMEU
To assist the funds of the newlyformed croquet club at Pomona, Kumeu, a pleasant afternoon was held by the committee in the Kumeu Hall on Saturday. Gaily decorated stalls and many amusing side-shows did brisk business, while the many competitions were the cause of much interest. Croquet ladder was played, the winner being Mr. G. Farley. The various stalls were in charge of the following: produce, Mrs. Lambden and Mrs. H. Bull; fancy, Mrs. Barter; cakes, Mrs. Wilson; sweets, Mrs. Farley; afternoon tea, Mrs. E. Cooke, Mrs. Gooding and Mrs. Pearnian; bran-tub, Miss June Lambden. A series of card afternoons have been arranged and will bo held in the homos of the members. It is hoped that by the summer the lawns will bo ready for play, great progress having been made by the working-bees on Saturday afternoons.
