Y.W.C.A. JUBILEE
CELEBRATIONS IN CITY COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMME An extensive programme has been arranged by the Young Women's Christian Association to celebrate its golden jubilee. The events will extend from next Wednesday until September 10, when the celebrations will be brought to a close with a lair and pageant in the Town Hall. The first function, to bo held 011 Wednesday afternoon, will be an At Home for women members, when jubilee thanksgiving gifts for the new hall floor will be received. This will be followed next Sunday afternoon by an inter-denominational thanksgiving scrj vice at St. David's Church. The following afternoon there will be a reunion of old members at a rosemary party." An old-fashioned tea meeting 011 the evening of August 3 will be followed by the annual meeting and a reception, while on August 8 anil i) a "back to Blockhouse Bay" week-end will bo held, features of which will be a games afternoon, a party, and an outdoor service for old campers. 011 August 12 there will be a jubilee party for past and present girl members, and a Communion service will be held on August 16. Girls of the past and present at work and play will be depicted in tho pageant to be held in the lown Hall on the night of the international fair 011 September 10. In this connection, an attempt is being made to review the kind of work in which girls and women are employed in trades', industries and professions in Auckland, and to give an indication of the numbers engaged. Various business houses have been circularised with a suggestion that a group of girl employees, showing by some novel dress, poster, or other means the nature of their occupation, should take part in the pageant.
