TROUBLE EXPECTED
SEQUEL TO MURDERS RECENT STREET CLASHES FASCISTS AND SOCIALISTS By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received July 10, O.iJS p.m.) LONDON, July 1* What is actually happening in Spain is still obscure, but reports from Paris state that the Cabinet sat all night irt Madrid. Trouble has long been expected, especially in view of numerous brutal murders in the past fortnight, and the fact that Fascists and Socialists have been continually attacking each other in the streets. The Government has had numerous arrests of Fascists made since the murder of Senor Sotelo, owing to reports that a Fascist coup was being planned. Bight Wing newspapers have been indefinitely suspended. It appears, however, that the trouble is confined to Melilla, whero martial law has been declared. The Minister of Communications, Senor de los I? ios, states that Colonel Elitella revolted with the troops of the Melilla garrison and the general officer commanding surrendered. General Morato, commander-in-chief in Spanish Morocco, is rushing up troops, and believes he will speedily suppress the rising.
