HOWICK INTERESTS

A decision to co-operate with the Hoivick Horticultural and Beautifying Society in the observance of Arbor Day on August 5 was reached at a meeting of the Howick Town Board. Additional native trees will bo planted in the reserves and parks, and members of the Women's Institute will plant two puriri trees at the entrancegate at Stockade Hill. The foreman, Mr. W. D. Amiss, reported satisfactory progress with the construction, of two new concrete culverts at Cockle Bay. The work should eliminate the flooding that occurs periodically as a result of excessive storm.water.
