PUKEKOHE DRAINAGE
Sir, —As a resident of Pukekohe 1 must congratulate our worthy Mayoi and councillors on their success "in carrying the drainage ioan. It is long past time for the present condition to be removed, but I cannot help agreeing with the ratepayers who har6 expressed the opinion that it is unwise to have the treatment plant so close to the post office. In a growing town with a future before it like Pukekohe it would seem there is everything to lose and nothing to gain bj treating the sewerage near the business area. No doubt there will be periods when the tanks are not functioning at their best.,. The assurance of the engineer that the odours will not be worse than those around Westfield, in my opinion, only makes it ; more important to select a site which is a little further away from the closely-settled areas. It is gratifying to see that our Mayor, Mr. C. K. Lawrie, has promised to raise this point at the .council meetings « Ratepayer.
