CONTROL OF SUPPLY COMPLICATED PROBLEM NATIONALISATION SUGGESTED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CII RISTCII U RCII, Saturelay The question of the future control of the supply of electric power in the Dominion has not yet been investigated by the Government, but the Minister of Public Works, the Hon, R. Semple, said to-day that after taking a hurried look at the position he was satisfied that complete State control was the only solution. Mr. Semplo made it clear that ho was expressing only his |>ersonal opinion. The question, ho said, lnid never been before Cabinet and lie had not yet had time to look into the position thoroughly. During the next Parliamentary recess lie intended to make a thorough investigation into every aspect of the sale of electric power. He recognised that it was a very complicated problem and that the position at present was "terribly involved," but he thought it should bo possible to do something better than what was done at present and his personal view was that the real solution was nationalisation.
PONGAKAWA VALLEY SETTLERS REQUEST FOR EXTENSION [BV TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA, Saturday The Tauranga Electric Power Board received at tho monthly meeting from the Pongakawa Valley Tobacco Growers' Association a request for tho extension of tho supply to that settlement. It was stated there were -10 dwellings in tho settlement. Tho board decided to ask the Department of Agriculture if it would give a revenue guarantee for the extension of tho power supply to tho district.
