RESULTS OF COUNTY PLAY TOWNSEND'S FINE INNINGS LONDON, July 10 Rain seriously curtailed the series of county cricket matches which ended to-day. The most outstanding individual feat was a score of 153 not out by the former Auckland coach, L. F. Townsend. His score was a considerable factor in the Derbyshire total of 33(1 declared against Hampshire, which was dismissed cheaply in the first innings. Notts was defeated by Northamptonshire, on the first, innings, chiefly owing to the bowling of E. W. Clark, who led the bowling averages last season. , ~ The results of the matches are as follows: — LEICESTERSHIRE V. SURREY Leicestershire. —First innings, 330 (Armstrong 117 not out.; Govcr five for 72). Surrey.—First innings. 110 (Geary six for 35); foilow-on, one for 'l2. Leicestershire won on the first innings.
