Mr. J. P. O'Connor, a member otl the Wheat Committee, left for the south by train last night. Mr. G. Hedge, J.P., of Te Aroha ' has been appointed a coroner, according to a notice in the Gazette. Tho Rt. Hon. J. G. Contes. who haa been visiting Auckland sinr'o Friday, returned north yesterday afternoon. Mr. C. E. McCormack, Judge of the Native Land Court, arrived by train from the south yesterday morning. Mr. A. C. A. Sexton, M.P. for Franklin, was a passenger from the south bv Saturday morning's limited express. Mr. C. G. Macindoe, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, returned from the south. by train on Saturday morning. Mr. D. W. Dunlop, secretary of the Auckland Education Board, returned by Saturday morning's limited express after attending the conference of education boards in Wellington. Dr. T. .Lilian, medical superintendent of the Wairau Hospital. Blenheim, left by the Mataroa on Saturday for London. He is on six months' leave of absence from tho Marlborough Hospital Board. Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., left for Wellington by train 'last night for final discussions with the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, and members of the Government, before sailing by the Niagara on July 21 for London. Mr. W. I. Deavoll, who will shortly take up his duties as the new secretary of the 'Wellington Education Board, J*as been appointed secretary of the Education Boards' Association, in succession to Mr. G. L. Stewart. Mr. W. Renton, who, for the past six years has been headmaster of the Te Aroha School, will retire on superannuation at the end of this term, hav v Jk ing completed 40 years' service with 0 the Education Department. Mr. A. C. Zohrab, of the Palmerston North Boys' High School, left last week to take up his new duties as senior English master at the Whangarei High School. He is to be succeeded at Palmerston North by Mr. G. A. Ball. Mr. J. P. Moodabe. managing direc- ■ tor of Amalgamated Theatres Limited, and Mr. Colin W. Anderson, directoi of the Civic Theatre, have left on an extensive tour of the North Island circuit of theatres controlled by Amal gamated Theatres. The Hon. H. G. It. Mason, Ministei of Justice, arrived in Auckland oh Saturday morning and returned to Wellington by the limited express last night. On Saturday morning he paid a visit of inspection to the Supreme Court buildings, where proposals are on foot for extensive alterations, and in th? evening he met fruitgrowers at Oratia and discussed their problems with them
