Captain Polkinghorne spent some months with Treasure Recovery, Limited, searching the island nnd said he was convinced the treasure, is there. "I have been visiting Cocos since 1907," he added, "and I have seen some of the treasure located. More than. £40,000 has actually been discovered so far. The reason why the main hoard has not been found is that previous expeditious have adopted stupid methods. The treasure will never be found as long as expeditions just jump ashore and start scratching the beach at any odd spot."
