KENNEL CLUB DISPLAY SUCCESSFUL ENTRANTS COMMENTS BY JUDGE Over 200 dogs are on display at t"he Auckland Kepnel Club's mid-year show, which is being held in conjunction with the Auckland Winter Exhibition. The entries aro about the saino as last year. A notable improvement was manifest in the collie classes, both in number and in quality, and another noticeable feature was a decrease in the number of Alsatians on show. This was clue, the judge, Mr. G. Hunt, said, to more judicious breeding, with u view to producing tho right temperament in Alsatians. Kenton, in commenting on the entries in the hams and bacon section. The breeders gave evidence that they were producing a lirst-clnss animal for both the local and the overseas market. The class was judged on pigs entered in class .'515 at the summer show, and subsequently killed and cured. There were '2l entries. First prize was won by !{. Dawson, second by Ainbury's, Limited, and third by A. 'J'. Rogers. WOMEN'S INSTITUTES Points in the women's institute court displays were awarded for examples of thrift, arts and crafts, plain sewing, knitting, crochet, tatting and fancy needlework, toys, fruit cake, preserves, jellies, jams, pickles and sauces, kitchen sundries, medicinal, originality and general appearance. The result was: Helensville, 214 poiiits, 1; Fairfield, 188, 2; Henderson, 180, 3. Swauson, the fourth entrant, wns awarded 178 points.
