THE NEW DOMAIN GATES
Sir, —In "B Natural's" letter of July (3, lie said: "God created man in His own image." Quito correct, but he omitted to follow on, and stato that God also "made coats of skins and clothed them," to hide their nakedness. It behoves us, theiefore, to follow His laws, and not go tho way of paganism, as depicted on tho domain gates. E.G.B. Sir, —May I enter tho lists in tho domain gates tourney? Why should such an extremely beautiful thing as the bron/,e statuo of the athlete at the gates be ideeried merely because it is naked? Any drapery upon it would look ridiculous. All that matters is that it is very, very beautiful. In poise and line, in the impression of disciplined strength and unstudied grace which it conveys, it is really lovely. So why should we pretend that it is wrong to have it there—simply because we normally keen our bodies covered up? The statue typifies a physical perfection that the young should bo taught to aim at and even the middle-aged could go a long way toward attaining. To have it displayed in our city and to like to see it there is not paganism, but simply love of beauty and grace. Incognito.
