FARM WAGES
SECRECY OF AGREEMENT • ————— LINK WITH PRICE GUARANTEE "NOT MUCH LONGER TO WAIT" [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Wednesday The new working agreement which has been drawn up to cover wages and conditions for farm hands will not be made public until after the announcement of the guaranteed price which the Government will pay for dairy produce. This was indicated by the Minister of Labour, Hon. H. T. Armstrong, to-day. "My advice to the farmers of the country is to possess their souls in patience," said Mr. Armstrong. "In any case, the farm labourers' agreement is contingent on tho guaranteed price and because of that the agreement cannot be declared until after the price is made public. However, seeing that tho guaranteed price scheme must operate from August 1, there cannot bo very much longer for tho farmers to wait lor the information they want." Mr. Armstrong pointed out that tho agreement for farm labourers would have to bo written into legislation through an Act of Parliament.
