ST. PAUL'S, DEVONPORT

SUCCESSFUL AT HOME A very large number of members of the congregation of St. Paul's Church at Devonport attended the At Home which was held by the committee of the St. Paul's Ladies' Association in the church hall yesterday. Smilax and bowls of jonquils and stock made attractive decorations. The guests were welcomed by the Rev. A. M. Elliffe. Ihe Mayoress of Devonport, Mrs. H. I'. W. Meikle. was among those present.. An enjoyable programme had been arranged, those taking part being:— Miss Gladys Mallabond, who played pianoforte solos; Mrs. Collin Fairgra\e and Mrs. 11. E. Frater, who gave vocal duets and solos, and Mrs. Kenneth Gordon (past • president of the Auckland Dickens Fellowship), who gave character sketches from Dickens' ''Great Expectations" and "David Copperfield." Afternoon tea was served by the committee, who comprised:—Mrs. J. Gray and Mrs. M. Kirkwood (vice-presi-dents), Mrs. E. L. Skinner (hon. secretary and treasurer), Mrs. M. Cameron, Mrs. M. Mackie, Mrs. D. Tainsh, Mrs. D. Thornton, Mrs. A. Blackie and Miss H. Alexander.
