LABOURER SENT TO GAOL "Apparently you started stealing as soon as you came out of prison after serving a sentence for theft," said Mr. \V. It. McEJean, S.M., to Thomas Sheridan, aged 24, labourer, who was, charged in the Police Court yesterday with stealing a leather coat valued at £2 15s, the property of Meltzer Brothers, an overcoat valued at £3, the property of the Waitemata Trading Company, and a suit valued at £1 17s 6d," the property of Joseph Henry All charges were admitted. The goods had been taken from shop doorways, said Senior-Detective Hall. Accused had pawned the coats and was wearing the suit. Accused was sentenced to one month's imprisonment on the first charge and to three months' imprisonment on both the other charges, the terms to be cumulative.
