MR. JORDAN FAREWELLED GOOD WISHES FOR FUTURE Members of clubs affiliated to the New Zealand Federation of Cage Bird Clubs expressed their appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., who will leave shortly to represent New Zealand at the Assembly of the League of Nations, and to be High Commissioner in London, when they entertained him and Mrs. Jordan at a farewell function in the Ascot tea rooms last night. On their behalf, the president of the federation, Mr. F. J. Taylor, presented Mr. and Mrs. Jordan with a leather suitcase and a travelling rug. Mr. Jordan briefly acknowledged the gift and thanked the gathering for its good wishes. Ho said it would probably be his lot to represent the Dominion on the Council of the League of Nations. He realised the responsibility of the position, and knew that it would bo a big task, but he hoped that when his term ended he would be a bio to say that lie had done his best in tho position in which he had been placed by the people. A resolution congratulating Mr. W. J. Jordan on his appointment to represent New Zealand ut the Assembly of tho League of Nations in September was passed at a meeting of tho executive committee of the Auckland Council of Christian Congregations last night. " The committee rejoices that Now Zealand is to be represented by a gentleman of unswerving loyalty to definite Christian principles," stated the resolution, " and prays he may bo guided by Almighty God to give full expression to those' principles in the great crisis in human history which is approaching and which the League Assembly will be called upon face in September." Arrangements for the civic farewell to Mr. Jordan at Onehunga will bo made by the presentation committee to-night. It is expected that the function will take place on either July 16 or July 18.
