RAMARAMA PROPERTY SCHEME BEFORE BOARD APPROVAL TO BE SOUGHT The first public indication of tho Auckland Hospital Board's choice of a site for its proposed tuberculosis sanatorium in the Bombay district was made at tho meeting of tho board yesterday, when it was resolved to apply for the consent of the Minister of Health to the purchase of a portion of a property at Ramarama owned by the estate of Mr. It. G. Wright, and of 30 acres of an adjoining property owned by tho estate of Mr. Barker. The Buildings Committee reported that a contour survey of the Wright property, consisting of 186 acres, had been- made, and had been extended to include tho additional area. The plan prepared by the surveyors showed that tho height above sea level varied between 345 ft. and 385 ft. and that the main ridge on the property avei "~ aged 140 ft. above the Great South Road. Tho surveyors considered that some of the area under native bush would have to be cleared if it was desired to erect buildings running east and west for a distance of toJiOOft. The purchase of 30 acres or too x>rirn.or property would provide one means of access to the proposed site of the buddings. ' ~ Tho report of tho board-in-commit-teo stated that the then chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, had been authorised to obtain an option over the additional land at the price quoted, £3O an acre. It was stated after the meeting that the present proposal was to purchase 76 acres of the Wright property, making. with the further area, 106 acres. The board also resolved to seek the Minister's consent to the purchase of a site for tho proposed auxiliary hospital at tho North Shore and for the erection of buildings. It was stated that no site had yet been selected.
