WOMEN'S DIVISION

Mangatawhiri.—At a recent meeting Mrs. Lyons reconsidered her resignation as president and will act for a further period. Each member was allotted a particular duty to assist her. An interesting demonstration in moccasin making was given by Mrs. Twining. Mangatangi.—Mrs. J. Cumming presided over a meeting held in the home of Mrs. Miller. The competition was an article suitable for a gift. Mrs. Batli was the winner. Proceeds from a bring-and-buy sale and a dance augmented branch funds. Whangarei.—Mrs. A. C. M. Finlayson presided over a good attendance of members and friends at the June meeting. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs. J. J. Fraser in the loss of her sister, those present standing in silence. Several new members were welcomed. It was reported that there had been two housekeepers working in the district for some weeks. A donation was made to the community chost. Mesdames Finlayson, Houdlin and Evans were appointed delegates to attend the annual conference to be hold in Wellington next month. It was decided to have a bring-and-buy stall at the next meeting, Mesdames Rex Fraser and Draper to bo in charge. It was also decided to hold a dance at an early date to raise funds for the branch. Mesdames Pawson and Evans were hostesses at afternoon tea. Ngahinepouri.—The monthly meeting of the branch was held in the local hail last week, Mrs. J. McWhannell, president, presiding. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mrs. Allan in her recent bereavement. It was decided that each member should try tp make one garment for the poor during the year. The president, Mrs. J. McWhannell. was nppointed to represent the branch at the Dominion conference in Wellington in July. Mrs. McWhannell, on behalf of the branch, presented Mrs. J. J. Ryhurn with a beautiful crystal bowl and a posy, as a token of appreciation from her fellow-mem-bers for all she had done for them and the branch as president during the past two years. Mrs.
