KAIPARA HOSPITAL
BOARD AND SOCIETIES BUILDING RECOMMENDATIONS [by telegraph—own correspondent] DARGAVILLE. Friday A letter from 'the Department of Health, stating that it was prepared to recommend to the Minister that the agreement with the friendly societies should be extended for a further two years, was received at a meeting of the Kaipara Hospital Board to-day. The secretary, Mr. W. A. Haden, said the department recommended a new contract, but this would not affect the terms of the agreement. The chairman, Mr. P. R. Walden, said it was time tho board considered tho building programme recommended by the recent conference of contributing local bodies.
The medical superintendent, Dr. J. A. Marshall, said he did not think the department would approve of a temporary building. Mr. W. Collins said he considered that if the proposals as put forward by the conference were submitted to the department there would not be any difficulty. It was decided that the House Committee should meet to deal with the question of immediate accommodation at To Kopuru and tho proposed expenditure for the next live years, and report to a special meeting. It was decided also to notify the department of the conference's recommendations, and that they were being considered by the board.
