MARRIED 50 YEARS

TWO ARCHHILL RESIDENTS Contentedly puffing a pipe, a wiry, active man in his 89th year, with twinkling blue eyes, a ruddy face and a white beard, yesterdav looked back over half a century of happy married life. He was Mr. J. Kelly, of 3 Commercial Road, Archhill. Yesterday, Mr,' and Mrs. Kelly celebrated their golden, wedding. Mr. Kelly was born in County Kildare, Ireland, on November 24, 1847., and arrived in Auckland on his 27th birthday, in tho sailing ship Ocean Mail. As a plasterer, he worked on many of Auckland's earliest buildings. He said he had little fault to find with the modern generation, except thai; they had lost the art of walking. "Iri the old days we thought nothing oif walking to Panmure and back," ho said. Mrs. Kelly, who was born in Bendigo, Victoria, on February 4, 1859, enjoys good health and is still very active. There are six daughters, three sons and 14 grandchildren.
