REFORMS IN INDIA

PROVINCIAL AUTONOMY DRAFT ORDERS-IN-COUNCIL British Wireless HUGBY, Mi;,y 29 The newspapers, in commenting on the draft Orders-in-Council under the Government of India- Act, express satisfaction that it has been possible to fix April 1, 1937, as the date for the setting up of the system of provincial autonomy in 11 British Indian provinces, and for the separation of ijurma. This decision has been facilitated by the Government's adoption of the report of Sir Otto Niemeyer on the allocation of certain revenues between the Central and Provincial Governments. The draft orders will be considered by Parliament shortly after the Whitsun recess.
