Flight-Lieutenant L. F. J. Taylor, R.A.F., of Invercargill, has been posted to the Peterborough Station as flying instructor. He was appointed to a per--manent commission on April 1 and promoted to flight-lieutenant on the same day.

The Hon. F. E. Lark, M.L.0., and Mr. W. T. Anderton, Mr. J. G. Barclay, Mr. T. D. Burnett, Mr. W. P. Endean, Mr. W. J. Jordan, Mr. J. A. Lee, Mr. A. S Richards and Mr. A. C. A. Sexton, M.P.'s, were passengers for Wellington by la6t evening's limited express.

Mr. A. W. Hawley, of Wellington, New Zealand representative of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, will leave by the Niagara tonight for England, via Canada and the United States. He will return to the Dominion in about seven months' time via the Suez Canal.

The Rev. Dr. T. Ferrier Hulme, of Bristol, who has been visiting the Dominion, will leave by the Niagara tonight for Canada on his return to England. Dr. Hulme was the official representative of British Methodism at the centenary of the Methodist Church held in Victoria earlier this year.

Mr. William C. Barry, Director of {he Livestock Division of the Department of Agriculture, has been appointed registrar of the Stock Remedies Board, and registrar of the Veterinary Surgeons' Board in succession to Dr. C. J. Reakes, who recently resigned from the position of Director-General of Agriculture.

Mr. A. J. Pople, president of the Auckland Fruit Importers' Association, Mr. Harvey Turner, Mr. J. B. Grove and Mr. W. H. Bice left for Welling*, ton by the limited express last evening, accompanied by Mr. J. Stanton, on business connected with the inquiry by a Parliamentary Committee into the disposal of Rarotongan fruit.
