OPOTIKI AIR PAGEANT
DISPLAY OF AEROBATICS TWO PARACHUTE JUMPS [by telegraph—own correspondent] * OPOTIKI, Sunday The first air pageant held in tho Opotiki district was conduct-id under the auspices of tho Auckland Aero Club in Mr. 11. A. Hedley's paddock yesterday. Tho weather was ideal, and about 500 people attended. In addition to a three-passenger cabin monoplane, fivo Moths arrived during the morning. Thirteen pilots, including Flight-Lieutenant D. M. Allan, the club's chief instructor, took part in the pageant, and displays of aerobatics were given.
Two parachute jumps by Mr. G. W. Sellars were highly appreciated by the spectators. Owing to strong southeasterly wind, tho paracliutist had diificulting in judging tho extent of the drift, and On his second jump he landed in .an adjoining paddock,' missing tho hedge by only two feot. Many • people availed themselves of the opportunity of viewing Opotiki from the air, and tho aeroplanes were kept constantly employed. The Auckland party returned to Mangere to-day.
