WOMEN'S DIVISION
Putaruru. —There was an attendance of over 50 members at the annual general meeting of the branch, over which Mrs. J. J. Shine presided. The election of officers for the ensuing vear resulted: —President, Mrs. P. F. Karl; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. J. Shine, H. Robinson, G. G. Ranger and R. F. Rutledge; secretary, Mrs. E. W. R. Leslie; treasurer, Mrs. J. C. Tomalin; committee, Mesdames E. Jones, M. Truss, P. D. Morrison, Goodall and Lopdell: advisory board, Mesdames D. I). Sneddon, H. W. Baldwin and W. Campbell; exchange stall, Mesdames H. Walsh (convener), McKinnon, H. S. Weightman and Miss Jean Sneddon. It was decided to arrange to send three daughters of members to the annual educational week held at Tauranga under the auspices of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union. Puni. —There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Puni branch, when the president, Mrs. Preece, read a report on the past year's work., The balance-sheet showed a good credit balance. A competition for the best article in papier mache was won by Miss D. Fallows. The points prizes for the year were awarded to Mrs. Pritchard 1, and Mrs. McNeil 2. Officers elected were:—President, Mrs. Preece (re-elected); vice-presi-dents, Mrs. Hooper (re-elected), Mrs. Gillanders; secretary, Mrs. Copsey; treasurer, Mrs. McGlade; committee, Mesdames McNeil, Miller, Pritchard and Tregoweth.
East Waikato Provincial Executive.— A meeting of the East Waikato provincial executive was held recently and was well attended by members from Reporoa, Ngongotaha, Tirau, Matamata, Putaruru, Waotu and Tokoroa. Mrs. C. Allan, the retiring president, gave an interesting account of the year's work. A strong protest was made against the wrong impression of the living conditions of farm hands as given in the press recently. Such expressions of hardship, it was considered, were contrary to facts in almost all cases. Mrs. Voyce was elected president, Mrs. Griffiths (Matamata) and Mrs. Marlyn (Ngongotaha) vice-presidents, and Mrs. H. W. Baldwin (Putaruru) secretary. Onewhero.—Mrs. D.yer was congratulated by the branch on her election as treasurer of the Waitemata provincial executive. Winners of competitions were:—Best carrots, Mrs. Raby and Mrs. Revell; ginger nuts, Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. Marshall; most points for past year, Mrs. J. W. Henderson and Mrs. Spraggon. Hostesses were Mesdames Revell and Spraggon.
