AUCKLAND TO WELLINGTON CLAIMS OF COMPANIES "I cannot comment at the moment, but the matter is receiving the attention of my directors," said Mr. Trevor S. Withers, organiser of Great Pacific Airways (N.Z.), Limited, and manager of Aviation Development, Limited, yesterday, when the statement of the Minister of Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, that the Government was carrying on discussions with Union Airways, Limited, regarding the establishment of a passenger and mail air service between Auckland and Wellington, was referred.to him. Stops at Palmerston North and New Plymouth were mentioned as being likely by the Minister, and it was suggested that the djstance could be covered in three hours.

Great Pacific Airways .(N.Z.), Limited, was last year granted a licence to conduct a trunk air service from Auckland to New Plymouth, Wanganui, Wellington, Blenheim, . Christchurch, Timaru and Dunedin. Subsequently it was announced that the company proposed to acquire three aeroplanes and that it was hoped to inaugurate a two-way daily service over the route as soon as possible this year. Aviation Development, Limited, is a developmental companv for Great Pacific Airways (N.Z)., Limited,' which is not yet incorporated.
