MANY SECOND BALLOTB 183 DEPUTIES ELECTED Times Cable LONDON, April 27 The Paris correspondent of the Times states in connection with the general election in France that 433 second ballots will be required. April 27 When .the counting of votes waa about to be begun at Calvi, a Corsican constituency, where M. Chiappe, formerly Chief of Police in Paris, was a candidate, masked bandits dashed into the counting station and held up the tellers with revolvers. They tore locks off the ballot boxes, which they stuffed with papers bearing the name of one candidate. The police arrived and many shots were exchanged and several people were wounded. M. Chiappe waß reported to have been returned by a majority of seven, but the authorities refused to sign the figures owing to the alleged irregularities.

COMMUNIST GAINS prices Marked down EFFECT ON PARIS BOURSE Times Cabls LONDON, April 27 The Paris correspondent of the Times says: The Paris Bourse is showing the effects of the Communists' successes in the first ballot and there was a general marking down of prices today. Observers are of the opinion that a financial panic in the present week, probably assisted by wire-pulling, might hare a startling effect upon the second ballot. M. Flandin told L'lntransigeant that he hoped the Communists' drive wouTd be a warning, ensuring an ultimate triumph for the Republicans.
