GIRLS' HOSTEL
POSITION AT HAMILTON INCREASED FEES NECESSARY [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday Comparisons were made at a meeting of the Hamilton High School board of governors showing that the fees charged at the girls' hostel were very reasonable compared with other schools. The secretary, Mr. R. English, said that the price for a full term at Hamilton was £l3 6s Bd, while at Canterbury and Gore it was £io, New Plymouth and Wellington £l9, Nelson £2O, Waitaki and Wanganui £lB. "It must be remembered that on top of this we are the only board that has to pay rent for our hostel," added the chairman, Mr. 0 L. MacDiarmid. "The other schools have their own hostels, the interest an<J sinking fund of which are paid by the State." The question of increasing the fees was left until a meeting later in the year.
