FAREWELL GATHERING
ONEHUNGA TRIBUTES A joint meeting of the Onehunga branch of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, the Onehunga Benevolent Society and" the Plunket Society was held yesterday in the Coronation Hall at Onehunga to bid farewell to Mrs. Arthur Houldsworth, who is about to pay a visit to relatives in England. The president of the Hospital Auxiliary, Mrs. R. Kirkham, presided over the meeting, which was very largely attended. The Mayoress of Onehunga, Mrs. John Park, in presenting Mrs. Houldsworth with a travelling rug and bouquet, mentioned that the recipient was a foundation member of the Hospital Auxiliary and an active member of the Plunket Society.for the past 16 years. She was also one of the earliest members of the Ladies' Benevolent Society, of which organisation she now was president. Mrs. Park paid a warm tribute to the many valued social services of Mrs. Houldsworth. Mrs. W. J. Jordan and Mrs. E. S. Harkness, representing the Benevolent Society, and Mrs. Kirkham the Hospital Auxiliary, spoke in similar strain, Mrs. Houldsworth replied. Appreciation of the many years' service rendered to the Plunket Society by Mrs. Houldsworth was voiced by Mrs. J. E. Co well and Mrs. R. Buchanan, each of whom was presented with a bouquet. A musical programme brought the meeting to a close.
