LOST AIRMAN
ALL WRECKAGE REMOVED RUAHINE CRASH RECALLED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] HASTINGS, Tuesday All trace of the wreckage of the late Mr. Hamish Armstrong's aeroplane, which crashed in the Ruahine Ranges last year, has now been removed, sections of the machine having been taken away from time to time since las 6 Christmas. The engine tvas removed in sections, the heaviest portion weighing 601b. The wings and other parts of the fuselage which had no salvage \alue have been burned aA the locality 0 tho crash. __ A party of trampers from Napier and Hastings recently visited the locality. There was no snow where the aeroplane crashed, but the land was covered with stunted scrub, making difficult tramping. "We kept a carefu lookout for the body of Mr. Armstrong, but without result," said a member of the party. "There is no trace no*. of the wreckage of the aeroplane. The death of Mr. Armstrong occurred when he was endeavouring to fly f ronl his home at Akitio, near Dannevirke, to Hastings, during wet and fogg? weather.
