MISS RYDE'S PERFORMANCES The most, conspicuous performance at _the South African swimming championKips decided recently in Bulawayo were Recorded by Miss Molly R.vde and T. Collard, both of Pretoria:. In fresh water Miss R.vde won the 100 yds anil 220 yds ladies' free-style contests in 67 3-5s and ~m 43 4-os respectively, and the 150 yds backstroke in 2nt 6 3-ss. Collard was victorious in the 100 yds men's championship in 57 2-ss. in the 220 yds in 2m 3-ss, and in the 880vds in 11m 445. The times Registered at the New Zealand championships, which wore swum la iresh water also, were better with but one exception. R. B. Frankham took ®7 l-5s for 100 yds, I). H. Symes 2m 28 4-Ss for 220 yds, and L. Newell 11m 32s for 880 yds. Miss S. Gotlieb was faster tin in Miss Ryde for 100 yds, taking 68 1-os, but Miss M. Lovdon was slower jfor 220 yds, her time being 2m 495. The" Jvew Zealand ladies' record for 220 yds is N;r 2m 465.
