DAMAGED TANKER

REPAIRS IN HAND ft A BIG UNDERTAKING (Received April 22. 10.15 p.m.) SYDNEY. April 22 Repairs to the Norwegian tanker Vardas, which struck a reef near Cape Moreton, will constitute one of the biggest undertakings ever accepted for the Cockatoo Dockyard, Sydney, where the vessel is being overhauled. When all the buckled plates have been stripped off an attempt will be made to straighten the badly-bent keel. In the meanwhile the hull is in two sections, which later will be rejoined. The work is expected to occupy many months.
