WAIHI FIRE BRIGADE
SERVIOE AWARDS PRESENTED [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] WAIHI, Wednesday Tributes to tho firefighters of Waihi were paid at ft social feathering after the business of the annual meeting of the Waihi Firo Board last evening. Service awards were presented as follows • —Superintendent W. 1" second gold two-vearlv bar to 25 years star: Kiremen \j. Warn and K. Sliergold, two vears' silver bar to live years service medal; Firemen T. Carbutt and T. Rawiri, certificates for three years' service. Reference to the good work c>t the brigade was made by Mr. J. F. Robertson at tho annual meeting of the Fire Board. Mr. Robertson made special reference to tho recent bush hre on the hills, saying that much property had been saved by the brigade. The report of Superintendent W. E. Roberts showed that 18 calls to fires had been received during the year. Insurance on properties concerned was £14,710, and loss £.'U3!5.
