AERO CLUB SUBSIDIES
THE TRAINING OF PILOTS FIGURES FOR PAST YEAR [by telegraph—special reporter] WELLINGTON, Sunday Subsidies to aero clubs for the training of pilots amounted to £4480 during last financial year, according to a statement made yesterday by tho Minister of Defence, Hon. F. Jones. This sum was spread over 11 aero clubs. Details of tlvw allocations were as follows: — Pilots Licences Total Trained Renewed Subsidy "Wellington . . 11 20 £485 Otiifjo .. . . ti 20 £'l2s Wuiiarapa and Ruahine .. 3 13 £235 Auckland .. .. 11 20 £485 Marlborough 6 9 £316 Southland .. 32 IS £485 Canterbury .. .. 18 20 £555 Hnwke's Bay and East Coast . . 9 16 £430 West Const United 4 4 £2OO Middle Districts . . 7 14 £370 Western Federated 12 20 £495 Totals . . . . 101 174 £4480 Altogether 399 pilots wcrq trained, including li/ women, but not all entitled their clubs to subsidies.
