UNNECESSARY SYMPATHY
GIFT TO DENTAL CLINIC ————— [by TELF.grAm—own correspondent] TE AROHA, Friday A case.of miutaken sympathy was revealed at this week's meeting of the Te Aroha School Committee, when following a previous announcement that the committee had been forced to strike a number of names off the school dental clinic list through nonpayment of fees, the headmaster, Mr. W, Kenton, reported that a To Aroha parent had generously forwarded a cheque to cover the outstanding dues, observing that the parents of such children were no doubt finding it difficult to make ends meet. Mr. Ronton stated that lie had subsequently interviewed the donor, explaining that in no cases were indigent parents asked to contribute. He pointed out that the amount involved was only 2s 9d, and upon his exhibiting the list of defaulters to the donor, that gentleman agreed that all on the list were well able to pay the small amount, and asiked that the cheque be diverted to the general school funds.
