TWELVE TEAMS SECTION

SOME STRONG RINKS There are 12 teams in section E, the former ones containing only 10. This is another section of the strong variety. Mingins (Epsom), whose credentials as a skip are second to nono in Auckland ,it the present time, has a solid rink supporting him. H. Jenkin (Carlton) also has a very fine rink assisting him and can be expected to make a good showing. Another good team is Higginbotham s Ponsonby combination. The Te Awamutu skip, Gee, who is credited with being the fastest driver in the province, will probably do well. The presence of several other good skips makes the position in the section decidedly interesting, but still the Epsom team should win through. Keatley, Rocky Nook, with his usual team, would appear to have great prospects in section F. Jt will cause a great surprise if he does not qualify. G. McMillan (Remuera), who has been playing well for some time, has a good team, including Barnett, the former Southland champion. He is capable of giving the Rocky Nook men a good game. T. R. George (Epsom), a double winner in 1925 and 1930, has a team of unknown quality, but if he receives anything like fair support ho will trouble most of the teams in the section.

The last section, G, contains a full list of skips who have performed well in the past. This will be a hard section to win. Franks (Balmoral) won the last Christmas tournament and H. Whittle (Grey Lynn) lias many successes to his credit, j. Torrance (Carlton) arid J. Dick (Ponsonby) are two other stalwarts who will make their presence felt. S. Sharp (Hallyburton-Johnstone) and L. Campbell (Mount Eden) are others with a chance. Besides those there are several others capable of disputing the issue and altogether there should be nine very interesting games.
