SOCCER TOUR

VISIT OF AUSTRALIANS A strong protest has been forwarded by the Canterbury Football Association to the New Zealand Association because no test match against the Australian side has been allocated to Christehurch. "It seems to me," said the chairman of the executive of the Canterbury Association (Mr. J. Bi Jones), "that the New Zealand Association is thinking more of the financial side than of the need for fostering the code, which is the main object of a touring side. Christehurch, more than anywhere else, needs help in this direction. It has been necessary to curtail the tour by one week, and now it is not even known that there will be any match in Christchurch at all." Other delegates suggested that if there were a game against Canterbury, it should be deleted in favour of a test.
