TRAGEDIES ON WHALER

TWO SEAMEN KILLED BAD LUCK WITH CATCH CAPETOWN, March 24 The 13,700-ton whaling vessel, Hektoria, formerly the Medic, flying her ensign at half-mast, entered Table Bay to-day bringing a tale of tragedy and bad luck. A young Norwegian was killed when helping to haul a large whale up the slipway. The steamer lurched, and a grab weighing some tons crushed him against the bulwarks. Another 20-years-old Norwegian stepped backward into a tank of boiling water. He was pulled out immediately, but subsequently died. The Hektoria, which had a disappointing catch owing to bad weather, reported that three deaths had occurred on board shipi in another whaling expedition.
