SINGULAR ACCIDENT

MAORIS ON A LORRY CRUSHED AGAINST BANK [BY TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDED] GISBORXE, Monday When returning to Tokomaru Bay from a picnic a party of Maoris riding on a lorry met with an accident which resulted in two of them. Miss Potan and Mr. George White, suffering severe leg injuries. Some of the Maoris were riding on the back of the lorry with their logs over the side. When in the vicinity of Anaura the truck left the road and shot to one side, crushing their leg* against the bank. The accident happened so suddenly that there was ho time to move. * ~

An infant who suffered abrasions on the legs was taken to the Te Puia Hofr pital, while Miss Potae and Mr. White, who each received a fractured leg, as well as badly cut limbs, were removed to the Tolaga Bay Hospital
