MAORI FARMERS' SHOW
HOROHORO LAND SCHEME PRINCIPAL PRIZE-WINNERS [by TELEGRAPH—-OWN correspondent] ROTORTJA, Monday The progress made in the development of the Horohoro native land scheme was well demonstrated on Saturday, when the settlers held their/ second show. From all aspects it proved an unqualified success. The standard o£ the stock exhibited was particularly" good. Officers of the Native Department and the Department of Agricul-; ture co-operated with the settlers' committee in the organisation of the show;. The special silver cup presented by the Horohoro settlers for most points' in all classes was won outright by G. Kapene, with 50 points. The results of the various classes were:— ~ Horses.—Children's pony, mare or geld«i ing, under 14 hands: Ginger Mick (G. pene), 1 and champion;'Ta Kanini (D. Ka-" pene), 2; Manutai (H. "Wharekuraj, 3. Handy farm horse, in harness: T. "Wairau, 1 and" champion; E. Wairau, 2; A. Kirmiaoa, 3." Open: G. Kapene, 1 and champion; K. Ka« pene, 2; H Patikura, 3. Brood mare, witli foal at foot: T. "Wairau, 1 and 2; T. Kingi, 3. Cattle.—Best dairy cow, in profit: G. Ka--peno, 1 and champion; M. Simon, 2; S Ruhi, 3. Heifer calf; S. Ruhi, 1; G. Ka'peno, 2 and 3. Yearling heifer: G. Kapene.. 1; D. Gordon, 2; T. "Wairau, 3. Pigs.—Best sow: Joe Patenef X; T. "Wai-"' rau. 2; G. Kajiene, 3. Sow and litter: S. Ruhi, 1; G. Kapene, 2. "Weaner under 10 weeks: G.
