UNPAID ACCOUNT
THEATRICAL COMPANY ACTION OF POWER BOARD An echo of the unsuccessful Auckland season of the Nellie Bramley Comedy Company was heard at a meeting of the Auckland Electric-power. Board yesterday, when action taken by the board-in-committee in respect of an unpaid account for £sl 16s 4d was confirmed.
A report of tho proceedings of tho board-in-committee stated that the general' manager, Mr. R. H. Bartley, had explained that payment of the account had boon deferred by the board at the request of J. C. Williamson, Limited, owing to tho fact that the company responsible, the Nellie Bramley Company, was unable to pay, and the matter had been held over to give J. C. Williamson, Limited, tho opportunity of endeavouring to recover the amount from tho company. On the motion of the chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, it was decided that as all accounts for His Majesty's Theatre were rendered in tho name of J. C. Williamson, Limited, the board must look to them for payment, of the account in question, and that no allowance could be made. Tho board was, however, prepared to allow discount for prompt payment.
Tho decision reached was confirmed without comment at yesterday's meeting.
The company was headed by Miss Nellie Bramley but she had no part in its management or the payment or otherwise of its accounts.
