AMOUNT OF CHARGE LARGE SUM FOR RESEARCH A levy of 6d a bale on all wool sold in or exported from New Zealand, is provided for in the "Wool Industry Protection and Research Bill to be introduced by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, in Parliament, according to a leading woolbuyer, who is well acquainted with the proposals for a levy recently submitted by the sheep farmers. Tho wool-buyer stated yesterday that, it was expected the levy would j-ield a yearly income of approximately £15,000, as it would be based on the annual clip of the Dominion, which would average about 600,000 bales. Tho fund created would be used to combat propaganda against the use of wool, and research work in New Zealand would aiso be prosecuted. Farmers attending the Auckland wool sale yesterday, expressed satisfaction when informed of the amount of the proposed levy, and the general opinion was that the charge of 6d a bale was a reasonable one.
