MOTOR-CYCLE MISHAP

MACHINE STRIKES POLE Severe injuries were received by n motor-cyclist, Henry James Rvan, aged 18, of Abattoirs Road, Otahuliu, when bis machine struck a power polo in Great South Road, near Market Road, yesterday afternoon. lio was proceeding outward, and was bending down on the left side of his machine, when it deviated slightly from its course and struck a pole at the left side of the road with the handlebars. The rider's shoulder also struck the pole, and he was thrown to the ground. He suffered concussion and a broken arm, and was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. His condition last evening was serious.
